The Band
-
Gina B, Vocals & Creator
A vocalist who can’t decide if she sounds more like Elvis or Melissa Etheridge most days, and won’t feel successful with this show until she can enter a stage on her motorcycle. Gina has worn too many hats to keep track of. That’s probably why a past employer referred to her as a ‘beautiful contradiction’, to which she replied “So, I’m hired?” (she did get that job). Women of Rock is a love child composed of all the many hats worn over the years from educator, director, performer, mentor, eternal black sheep, the inability to make more money singing musical theatre - etc. She’s on an epic quest to create nostalgic entertainment that deeply resonates with the audience on a personal level.
-
Alex Mendes, Vocals
Miss Alex is an accomplished singer, talent buyer, and woman on the go. When she’s not singing notes into the stratosphere trying to harm birds in flight with her high belt range, she’s working with celebrities to try and sell things like soap. Like literally, actual soap. If her insane vocals aren’t enough for you to buy tickets to our show, her epic singer-stank faces should entice you the same.
-
Rorie Kelly, Vocals & Guitar
Rorie Kelly is a singer/songwriter, guitar and piano player, and purveyor of finely selected dad jokes. She is also a tarot reader and witch and if you are not careful she will put you in a soup. Choose wisely.
-
Michael Khan, Guitar
Michael is a multi-instrumental musician but spends most of his money buying guitars. Thanks to the values instilled by his German grandparents and Canadian mother he works tirelessly at his craft, but feels embarrassed and immodest when asked to write a bio about himself.
-
Tina Lau, Drums
Story Time With Tina:
“One evening, when I was in a club with a friend, the drummer of the band threw out his sticks to the audience…. I got very lucky and caught one! Over the course of the night I held onto that stick, and decided that I wanted to play drums. My life as a drummer began in my teens. I took lessons and practiced with devotion that shocked my family. Two years later, I was ready to join my first band.
Some drummers that have inspired me include: Buddy Rich, Vinnie Colaiuta, John Bonham, Neil Peart, and Keith Moon. I always feel euphoric when I play because it is such a passion that I have, and I never play without my lucky red sneakers!”
-
'Jo' Giuffre ReyMartin, Keys
‘Jo’ may be 5ft and often blocked on stage by her own rig, but her energy proceeds her. Not only does she make time to be a touring musician, but she also spends her days telling people what to do in court. She may be a lawyer, we aren’t totally sure. Either way we don’t want to make her mad.
-
Kim Mahalic, Bass
Bass-slappin’ mom on a mission. Building beats and buildings while empowering women in hard hats and high notes. Paving a musical path for 2 boys while chasing the rhythm of her own dreams. Championing women in music and construction- girl power, always.
